GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Florida State men’s and women’s track teams
continued their indoor season at the Barnett Bank Invitational in the
O’Connell Center today.
Lakeisha Mose established a new personal collegiate best with a throw of
54-9.50 (fourth place) in the women’s 20-lb. weight throw. That mark
provisionally qualifies her for the NCAA Indoor Championships. Mose also
took second in the shot put with a toss of 45-5.25.
Leading the way for the men was sophomore thrower Donald Heaven. Heaven,
a starter for the Seminole football team at offensive guard, recorded a
second place finish in the shot put at 52-2. Brad Hess added a third place
effort in the shot (50-6.25) and a fourth place mark in the weight throw
A pair of Heaven’s two-sport teammates, Germaine Stringer and Travis
Minor, also ran well in the sprint events. Stringer was 10th in the 55m
dash (6.39 – won section two finals) and fourth in the 200m (21.91) while
Minor was ninth in the 55m dash (6.45 – section one). Senior Patrick Hayes
finished seventh in teh 55m finals (6.42) after running 6.32 in the

(fourth – 55.60), Shannon Steele – high jump (third – 5-5.25), Aaron Scheer
– 3K (second – 8:30.28), Zyris Hill – long jump (fifth – 23-5.50). The
women’s 4x400m relay team added a second place time of 3:44.38.
