BIRMINGHAM, AL — The Florida State men’s cross country team finished
third at the Alabama/Florida/FSU Triangular Meet (8K) at Spain Park this
morning. Alabama won the event with a point total of 21, Florida was
second with 44 and Florida State was third at 71.
FSU’s top finisher was Aaron Scheer, a transfer from Nebraska, who
finished seventh overall with a time of 25:31. Senior Brad Shriver
recorded a personal best time of 25:51 as the Seminoles’ second runner
(10th overall). Josh Ware (27:33), Justin Palmer (27:39) and Reid Montini
(28:01) rounded out the scoring. Michael Maier, FSU’s top runner, did not
run this week.
“With the exception of Brad Shriver and Aaron Scheer we did not have a
good race,” said head coach Scott Irving. “Alabama is a top 15 team and it
will be exciting to run against them in Tallahassee next week. With Maier
back in uniform we should run closer to Alabama and that will give us a
good gauge on our improvement.”
Both men’s and women’s cross country teams will be in action next weekend
as FSU hosts the Seminole Invitational/ACC Preview on Saturday, Sept 27.
