Florida State Falls to Florida

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Murriel Page led all players with 20 points and 15 rebounds,
sparking the Florida Gators to a 73-64 victory over cross-state rival Florida State in opening
round action of the Dial Soap/Florida Four at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center. Florida State drops to 1-1 on the season,
while Florida is now 1-0.

Florida controlled the glass throughout the contest, collecting 41 rebounds as opposed to
just 30 for Florida State. The Gators also displayed a sharper shooting eye, connecting on
51 percent of their field goal tries, while the Seminoles shot only 41 percent. Page was
joined in double figures for Florida by Tiffany Travis and Tamara Stocks, who scored 19 and
13 points respectively. Jen Robinson and Latavia Coleman paced the Florida State offense
with 14 points each.
