GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida State bounced back from a loss on Thursday as they defeated the University of South Florida 71-59 at the Dial Soap/Florida Four Tournament.
The Seminoles, who lost to Florida a day earlier, easily disposed of the 0-3 Bulls. Latavia Coleman led all scorers with 26 points as FSU (2-1) dominated this game early and then held off a late charge by the Bulls.
FSU roared out to a 42-18 halftime lead, shooting 53% percent from the field in the first half. But USF, led by Sonya Swick’s 16 points, made a late run before faltering down the stretch.
Wendy Hampton added 19 points for FSU. Brooke Wyckoff led the Seminoles in rebounding with 9.
Florida State will host Mississippi on November 26th.
