Florida State Soccer Drops Home Opener To Hurricanes, 3-0
Women falter despite outshooting Miami 23-12.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State soccer team dropped their home
opener to the Miami Hurricanes this afternoon 3-0 at the Seminole Soccer
Complex. The Hurricanes improve to 1-0 as the Seminoles drop to 0-2.
“It was really frustrating when we would dictate play and not
execute on the situations,” Head Coach Patrick Baker said. “We out shot
them 2-1 and they scored three goals, which makes it even harder. It’s a
tough lesson to learn; you can dominate the play and create all the
situations but until the ball is in the back of the net, you can’t win the

McWhinney scored the second goal in the 54th minute during a chaotic
shot-deflection battle in the Seminole goal. Mehryn Corrigan scored the
Hurricanes final goal in the 79th minute. Florida State’s Sarah Deacon led
the team with six shots .
