Florida State Rallies Past South Alabama

TALLAHASSEE, FL — The Florida State Women’s Soccer team (3-2) fought off
a defensive South Alabama squad and rallied to a 2-1 victory over the Lady
Jaguars at the Lady Seminole Soccer Field. FSU veteran forward Janna
Walkup scored the game-winning goal off a corner kick from defender Rachael
Watkin for the Seminoles at 79:00 to hand USA (2-1-1) their first loss of
the season.

Although the ‘Noles outshot the Lady Jaguars 16-8, FSU did not score
until the 75:18 mark. Forward April Murphy sent in a shot past USA
goalkeeper Bryna Warnock off of a pass by forward Alex Osorio.

USA scored the first goal of the game in the first half when midfielder
Shannon Leahy took fellow midfielder Sabrina Thompson’s corner kick in for
the score at 8:42.

FSU goalkeeper Melissa Juhl tallied five saves on the evening, while
USA’s Warnock had seven.
