TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State women’s soccer team (3-4, 0-4 in the
ACC) gave up three goals in the first half to No. 14 Maryland (6-1-1, 2-0
in the ACC) en route to a 4-0 loss at Lady Seminole Field. UM’s Lindsay
Basalyga had one goal and two assists in handing FSU their first home loss
of the season.
Basalyga started the scoring as she took a pass from Robin McCullough on
the left side just inside the goalkeeper’s box for the game’s first score
at the 21st minute.
Two minutes later, ACC goal-scored leader Keri Sarver tapped in the
rebound off of Basalyga’s free kick from in front of the goalkeeper’s box.
UM’s Jackie Mynarski added the third goal before the end of the first
half in the 38th minute off of Basalyga’s corner kick.
In the 55th minute, McCullough got on the board with an unassisted score
from 20 yards out off of a free kick.
The Terps had nine shots on goal and five corner kicks, to FSU’s six
shots and two corner kicks. Two FSU players were sighted with yellow cards
as was one Terrapin. FSU led UM in fouls 26-14. Two UM players, All-ACC
player Emmy Harbo and Terri Greer, left the game with injuries.
