Softball Sweeps Doubleheader with Georgia Tech
Seminoles improve to 27-19-1 overall, 5-1 in ACC play.

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Florida State softball team swept the
double-header with the
Georgia Tech this afternoon at Glenn Softball Field in Atlanta. The
Lady Seminoles won
the first game 7-0 and the second game 8-5.
Danielle Cox got the scoring going for the Lady Seminoles in the
first game with a
sacrifice to center field, bringing in Kimmy Carter. The Lady
Seminoles then scored
four runs off six hits in the sixth inning,including a two run double
from Becky Wallace
and an RBI a piece from Carter and Corrie Williams. Williams brought
Cerecedes in the seventh inning as Carter drove in her third RBI.
Carter and Williams
led the Lady Seminoles in the first game, going 3-4 from the plate
with two RBI’s a piece.
Jen White improved her record to 12-12, giving up six hits and
walking one batter. Andi
Lyons andWilliams both added two stolen bases with Wallace stealing
her first base
of the season.
The Lady Seminoles got an early lead in game two, scoring four runs
in the first
inning. Cox scored the first run of the game off a Yellow Jacket
error. Cerecedes then
drove in Jesse McGregor followed by a two run double from Williams
and McGregor drove
in two runs in the second inning. The Yellow Jackets scored one in
the third and fourth
and Anne Knobbe hit a three run homer in the fifth to bring Georgia
Tech within one run.
FSU scored two in the seventh inning off a Georgia Tech error to
clinch the win, 8-5.
Cerecedes led the game going 3-4 with an RBI and a double with Cox
stolen bases. Stacy Venable improves her pitching record to 7-0 as
gets her first save of the season.

The Lady Seminoles will take on the Georgia Bulldogs in Athens on
Sunday in a
double-header beginning at 1:00pm.
