FSU’s Nanette Duxin Advances to Quarter-Finals of ACC Indoor Championships

Freshman also advances in double portion of tournament.

CHAPEL HILL, NC — Lady Seminole freshman Nanette Duxin advanced to the quarter-finals of the Atlantic Coast Conference Indoor Championships by sweeping Terri Hiete of Wake Forest in straight sets 6-2, 6-1, Friday at the Cone-Kenefield Tennis Center. In doubles action, the team of Duxin and fellow freshman Natlie Carratala advanced to the second round of the doubles portion of the tournament by defeating Emi Shaffer and Anne Lyford of North Carolina 8-0.

Carratala was victorous in her first round singles match against Stacy Walkowitz of Maryland 7-6, 6-2, but lost in the second round to eigth-seeded Paige Boiko of Virginia in a three game set 5-7, 6-3, 6-3. The only other Lady Seminole participating was freshman Christy Travis who lost in the first round to Leslie Cook 6-0, 6-0.

Play in the tournament continues today, Saturday.
