Florida State Volleyball Cruises by South Alabama

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Junior outside hitter Holly Schneider hit .526 on 11
kills, one error and 19 attempts to help Florida State improve to 17-3
overall with a three-set (15-4, 15-3, 15-7) win over visiting South
Alabama. With the loss, South Alabama falls to 1-17 on the season.

FSU sophomore Aisha Thornton led all players with 12 kills while Susan
Hawks went perfect on the night with 6 kills on nine attempts for a .667
average. Senior Laura Arnold hit .538 for the match. The Lady Seminoles
as a team hit .438 while the Lady Jaguars went .013 for the match. Jayme
Sherwood led South Alabama with seven kills.

Ten players in all played for the Lady Seminoles in the match as FSU
experimented with different combinations.

“We wanted to try to get Susan Johnson some playing time, because we will
need her, especially on the right side,” FSU Head Coach Cecile Reynaud
said. “Overall, I thought we played pretty well. Tonight’s match was a
warmup for tomorrow night’s match with Duke. We’ll have to play much
better in order to beat Duke. I think they will give us quite a match.”

Tomorrow night’s match with ACC-rival Duke will be at 7 p.m. in Tully
