TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The Florida State volleyball team rebounded from its
Friday loss with a 11-15, 15-12, 15-6, 15-4 win over Wake Forest in Tully
Gym. The Lady Seminoles improved to 18-4 overall and moved into a four-way
tie for second in the ACC at 5-3. The Demon Deacons dropped to 8-14, 1-7
in the conference.
After the Lady Seminoles’ sluggish start, it was freshman Jennifer
Werrick in her first collegiate match who sparked Florida State back to
life. Werrick led the team with a .588 hitting percentage totaling 12
kills and 9 digs over the match’s final three games.
“We started out stale but made some lineup changes which helped us win,”
said head coach Cecile Reynaud. “This was a big first match for Jen
Holly Schneider and Susan Hawks each added double-digit kill performances
with 18 and 12, respectively, for the Lady Seminoles. Schneider also
posted 11 digs, the second half of her double-double, and Christy Minko
notched 10 digs to lead the defense.
Florida State continues its conference schedule with visits to ACC-foes
Georgia Tech and Clemson next weekend.
