Florida State Volleyball Defeats Georgia Tech

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The Lady Seminole volleyball team used an impressive
serving and blocking effort to defeat Georgia Tech in four games 15-12,
15-9, 9-15, 16-14 this afternoon in Tully Gym. Florida State moved to
15-2, 3-1 in the ACC, with the victory, the Lady Seminoles’ first over the
Yellow Jackets since 1993. Georgia Tech fell to 8-11, 1-3 in the

Freshman Kate Hemlepp tallied a career-high 5 service aces, part of
FSU’s season-high 12 aces, to lead the Lady Seminoles on serve. Georgia
Tech faultered behind the line, totaling 17 service errors including
several clutch miscues in the close fourth game. The Yellow Jackets also
had problems on the attack with 33 hitting errors in the match.

At the net, Susan Hawks and Aisha Thornton each had a pair of solo blocks
as the Lady Seminoles outblocked Georgia Tech 8-2. Holly Schneider posted
her second double-double of the weekend with 12 kills and 21 digs against
the Yellow Jackets.

“We served much better this afternoon,” said head coach Cecile Reynaud
after the match. “Georgia Tech is always tough and they made us work hard
for the victory today.”

The Lady Seminoles will continue their conference schedule on the road
next weekend as Florida State travels to Charlottesville to battle Virginia
Friday before meeting defending ACC champion Maryland in College Park on
