RALEIGH, N.C. — Three Lady Seminoles recorded double-digit kill
performances as Florida State got back on the winning track with a 15-5,
15-8, 15-3 victory over North Carolina State. FSU improves to 13-2 and 1-1
in Atlantic Coast Conference play while the Wolfpack fall to 5-11 and 0-2
in the league.
Middle hitters Susan Hawks (10k, 0e, 13att) and Aisha Thornton (15k, 1e,
20att) combined for 25 kills with just one error, turning in a combined
hitting performance of .727 in leading the Tribe to its first ACC win of
the season. Outside hitter Holly Schneider also had 15 kills and led the
team with two solo blocks in hitting .444 for the match. Setter Fiona
Bolten recorded 46 of FSU’s 47 assists.
“We played much better tonight,” FSU head coach Cecile Reynaud said. “I
think the players regained their focus on the ACC. Aisha (Thornton) played
great and was really dominating offensively throughout the match. We’re
1-1 in the ACC and ready to come home and practice to get ready for
Florida State will host Clemson on Friday, Oct. 3rd at 7 p.m. in Tully Gym.
