Pack your bags, we’re going on a road trip!

The mystique of Route 66 continues to captivate people around the world running between Chicago and Los Angeles. This legendary old road passes through the heart of the United State on a diagonal trip that takes in some of the country’s most archetypal roadside scenes. But perhaps the most compelling reason to follow Route 66 is to experience the road’s ingrained time line of contemporary America. The Florida State volleyball team, though invisible, has this exact ingrained time line that passes through America and makes a quick stop in Brazil before winding back.

If you glanced at the FSU volleyball roster, one can’t help but notice right off that the team boasts players from seven different states, has two athletes from Brazil and every single person–with the exception of the Santos sisters–are from a different city in the United States! It’s almost as if the team is a big salad mixed with a little small town folk and topped off with the big city gals. Yet, somehow, someway, they each bring in their own experiences and lifestyles to form one Seminole Tribe.

Every athlete will tell you that there is no better feeling in the world than having your named announced before the match begins followed by your hometown and state. Not only are they proud, but they each have a story to share. For that very reason, we decided to pack our bags and set out to find out what it’s all about. Each week we’ll visit someplace new and if time allows, eh, we may even make two stops a week. Until then, enjoy the ride…Go ‘Noles!
