TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – An ambitious plan to build state-of-the-art
golf practice facilities and to improve the condition of Seminole golf
course will get a big boost when current and former professional golfers
with FSU ties turn out for the Seminole Tribe of Florida Pro-Am scheduled
for March 22 at Grand Cypress Resort in Orlando.
Jeff Sluman, Hubert Green, Nolan Henke, Larry Ziegler, Bobby
Cochran, Brian Kamm, Kenny Knox, Christian Rainer and two-time Walker Cup
captain Downing Gray headline the list of former FSU stars turning out from
the PGA. Lady Seminole stars Barb Bunkowsky Scherbak, Lisa Walters, Karen
Stupples and Leigh Ann Mills will join more Seminole stars to round out the
field with LPGA representation.
Proceeds for the tournament will go towards new state-of-the-art
teaching and training facilities at the Seminole Golf Course in Tallahassee
along with creating new facilities in conjunction with projects already in
progress for the golf management program recently certified by the PGA of
The Seminole Tribe of Florida, the title sponsor for the
tournament, joins presenting sponsor The New Dodge as major supporters of
the event to kickoff fund raising efforts for the men’s and women’s
intercollegiate golf programs at Florida State.
