Steve Robinson Celebrity Golf Tournament A Big Success

June 15, 2000

The first Steve Robinson Celebrity Golf Tournament took place Monday, May 22 and raised over $20,000. The money raised is earmarked for two charities. Seventy percent will help provide assistance for Aubry Boyd, a former Seminole basketball player (1987-91), who was left partially paralyzed and wheelchair bound after an accident in 1995. The other thirty percent of the proceeds will go to the FSU Roundball Club in the name of Godfrey Smith, a former longtime Seminole Booster who passed away last year.

The tournament format called for a scramble with the top four teams receiving commemorative awards. The tournament featured 25 teams and the grouping of Washington Redskin’s Quarterback Brad Johnson, Dr. Hadley Hasemeier, Hamm Bisbee and Bob Martin finished first. Second place went to the team of Ron Wahl, David Arrington, Drew Mitchell and Bart Mitchell of the Denver Nuggets. The quartet of Dave Hart, Coach Robinson, Bob Smith and Martin Newton placed third. Fourth place went to the team of Steve Wilkerson, Steve Hull, James Barnes and Henry Hunter.

The event’s success was due in large part to the sponsorship from Capital City Bank, Champion Chevrolet, Cade and Associates, Silver Slipper and Capital City Country Club.
