TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Florida State University head men’s basketball coach Steve Robinson will host his third annual Steve Robinson Celebrity Golf Classic and Silent Auction and Reception on May 19 and 20, 2002 at the Capital City Country Club. Robinson is in his fifth year as the Seminoles’ head men’s basketball coach.
Portions of the proceeds raised will go to provide assistance to Aubrey Boyd, a former Seminole basketball player who is partially paralyzed following a tragic accident. Boyd was presented with $12,000 following last season’s tournament.
The golf event begins on May 20 with a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start at the Capital Country Club for the scramble (select-a-shot) format. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. A lunch and awards ceremony will follow the exciting round of golf on one of the area’s most challenging and most picturesque courses.
The golf event will be preceded by a silent auction and reception 6:00 p.m. on May 19 at the Silver Slipper Restaurant in Tallahassee. Many attractive items will be available and supporters of the men’s basketball program will have the opportunity to meet, mix and mingle with the many celebrities in attendance.
Those interested in information on playing in the event or available sponsorship packages should contact Kevin Hargrove in the men’s basketball office at (850) 644-1408. Sponsorships of all levels of gift giving are available.
