TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State outfielder DJ Stewart was named a Louisville Slugger Freshmen All-American as announced by Collegiate Baseball newspaper on Wednesday, June 5.

Stewart has had an outstanding first year with the Garnet & Gold as he leads the team, heading into the Super Regional against Indiana, in hitting (.363), hits (78), doubles (25) and slugging percentage (.567). He currently ranks in the top 10 in the ACC in six offensive categories including doubles (2nd), batting average (4th), on-base percentage (5th), slugging percentage (6th), RBI (t-8th) and total bases (10th).

Following the completion of the regular season, the Yulee, Fla., native earned one of five spots as an outfielder on the All-ACC second team. Just a week later, Stewart’s hot bat earned him a place on the ACC All-Tournament team after hitting .667 with a double, triple and three runs scored. He reached base in seven of his first eight plate appearances in Durham and finished the tournament recording multiple hits in all three games.

A two-time ACC Player of the Week in 2013, Stewart continued his torrid hitting during the NCAA Tallahassee Regional finishing the tournament hitting .636 (7-for-11) in three games en route to being named to the Tallahassee Regional All-Tournament team.

The freshman outfielder also leads the team with 24 multi-hit games and is the only Seminole to record five or more RBI in a game this year. Since May 7, Stewart has posted 10 multi-hit games and his hitting .526 (30-for-57) in 15 games with 10 doubles, one triple, one home run, 18 runs scored and 16 RBI.

Stewart and the Seminoles will be back in action this weekend as they host Indiana in a best-of-3 game Super Regional series with a spot to Omaha and the College World Series on the line.
