Gainesville, Fla. – The Florida State striders finished in tenth-place at the Mountain Dew Invitational hosted by the University of Florida in Gainesville, Fla. Florida State finished the meet with 229 total points and were led by sophomore Audrey Hand (Virginia Beach, VA/ Kellam) who finished the 5K in 29th place with a time of 19:07.86. The Seminoles finished just seven points shy of Miami, who finished 9th and 108 points ahead of their next closet competition, South Florida. Florida won the overall meet title with 44 points.
Hand was followed by sophomore Tina Biedenharn (Orange Park, FL/ Ridgeview) who crossed the finish line in 19:54.61 (56th place). Sophomore Stefanie Belcher (Libertyville, IL/ Libertyville) finished the race in 20:10.39, good for 65th place. FSU’s scoring was rounded out by sophomore Ashley Andress (Davie, FL/ Archbishop McCarty) and freshman Kaley Matthews (St. Petersburg, FL/ Largo) as they finished in 69th (20:15.62) and 71st (20:19.51), respectively.
The Seminoles will be back on the course Saturday, September 17 as they will host the FSU Invitational at the Miccosukee Greenway. Florida State will also host the 2005 ACC Championships on Monday, October 31.
