Surging Florida State Travels to No. 2 Duke

Florida State

The Seminoles are coming off a 70-64 win over Clemson at home on Tuesday night and have won two straight. Junior Ron Hale poured in a career-high 31 points and senior Terrell Baker added 20 against the Tigers…Hale is averaging 27.5 points in his last two games on 20-of-32 shooting (62.5 percent) and leads the ACC in scoring in conference games at 22.8 points. He ranks among the league’s top 10 in six categories in league games…Sophomore Delvon Arrington is averaging 8.2 assists in his last five games and has a 2.56-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio in that span. He had a career-high 13 assists last Saturday at Georgia Tech…FSU is 2-0 on the road in ACC play for the first time in its eight seasons in the league and head coach Steve Robinson has a 5-5 league road mark. In the four years prior to his arrival in Tallahassee, FSU was 6-26 away from home in ACC play…The Tribe’s 3-1 ACC start is its best since opening 5-1 in 1992-93.


Duke
The No. 2 Blue Devils have won 11 in a row after an 82-72 win at Wake Forest on Wednesday. Senior Trajan Langdon led Duke with 26 points in the win and is averaging 18.9 points per game on the season…Nine players are averaging at least 12.0 minutes per game and seven are averaging at least 7.0 points…Duke leads the country in scoring margin, beating their opponents by an average of 27.9 points per game, and is outrebounding the opposition by 11.3 per game…The Blue Devils are hitting 52.2 percent from the field and 40.5 percent from three-point range while holding their foes to 38.9 percent shooting…Elton Brand is averaging 17.6 points on the year and 20.8 ppg in ACC games, second to FSU’s Ron Hale.


The Game
Saturday’s game marks the 16th meeting between Florida State and Duke. The Blue Devils own a 13-2 advantage in the series, which dates back to Jan. 3, 1954…Duke swept the season series a year ago, winning 75-63 in Tallahassee on Jan. 10 and 86-74 at home on Feb. 10, and has won seven straight in the series…Cameron Indoor Stadium is the only ACC arena where Florida State has not won since joining the ACC in 1991-92. FSU is 0-7 there and has lost just twice in Cameron by less than 10 points (1995 – 72-67; 1997 – 72-66 in OT)…The Seminoles are 2-12 overall versus Duke since joining the league.
