    FLORIDA STATE

The Seminoles have won four of their last five after last Saturday’s 71-59 home win over NC State. Junior forward Ron Hale posted his third double-double of the season with a 25-point, 10-rebound effort…In his last five games, Hale is averaging 21.6 points on 38-of-75 shooting (50.7 percent). He leads FSU in scoring at 16.6 points per game…FSU’s 5-2 record in ACC play matches its best start in eight seasons in the league. Florida State also started 5-2 in 1991-92 and 1992-93, its first two years in the conference…Junior college transfer Damous Anderson continued his fine play with 19 points and four steals against NC State…He is averaging 17.0 points on 25-of-35 shooting (71.4 percent) and 6.5 rebounds in his last four games at full strength (missed most of Clemson with flu)…After failing to outrebound their foes in their previous seven games, the Seminoles have beaten its last two foes (Wake Forest and NC State) on the glass.

    MARYLAND

The Terrapins have won five straight after last Sunday’s 81-79 overtime win at Clemson. Sophomore forward Terrence Morris provided the winning margin with a baseline jumper with 14 seconds to go. Morris had 26 points in the game and leads Maryland in scoring at 16.6 points per game…Three other Terrapins are averaging in double figures: Steve Francis (16.2), Laron Profit (14.2) and Obinna Ekezie (13.1)…Maryland is shooting 51.2 percent from the field while holding its opponents to 37.7 percent from the floor and forcing 22.4 turnovers per game…The Terps are outrebounding their foes by 5.7 per game and rank among the nation’s top five in scoring margin at 24.2 points.

    THE GAME

Wednesday’s game marks the 16th meeting between Florida State and Maryland and is a contest between two of the ACC’s upper division teams…The Terrapins are in second place in the league while the Seminoles are tied for third with North Carolina…Maryland leads the all-time series by a 10-5 count and swpet the season series a year ago. The Terps won 81-74 at home on Jan. 7 and 68-62 in Tallahassee on Feb. 7…Florida State is just 2-5 in Cole Field House and, after winning in its first two visits there, has lost five straight in College Park.
