Swimming And Diving Completes First Day of Notre Dame Invitational

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – In late action Thursday night, the Florida State men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams finished third and second respectively at the Notre Dame Invitational. The men finished third behind host team Notre Dame and Western Kentucky as the women finished second to #8 Michigan and was ahead of #22 Notre Dame.

The men had many top finishes, including Julio Santos winning the 50 Free and Kevin Flanagan’s 4th place finish. FSU had several other top finishes as Richard Cowling finished 8th and Bill Schultz finished 10th in the 200 IM. The Seminoles also finished 3rd in both the 200 Free Relay and 400 Medley Relay.

The Lady Seminoles had an impressive night, finishing 2nd among the field. Kristen Adams and Lisa Kirsch both had top finishes in the 500 Free as they finished 4th and 7th respectively. Anne Blachford had a 3rd place finish in the 200 IM as Tanya Gurr finished 3rd in the 50 Free with Liska Dedekind finishing 7th in the event. The relays added top points with a 2nd place finish in the 200 Free Relay and 3rd in teh 400 medley Relay.

FSU continued action late on Friday and results from the finals for Friday will be posted early Saturday afternoon.
