TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –
The Florida State men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams will travel to Athens, Georgia, this weekend for the Georgia Invitational. The Seminoles will be one of a 12-team field, which looks to provide some great races and tough competition.
The meets starts with the preliminary heats on Friday, December 1 at 10:30 a.m. and will continue on through Saturday with the evening finals set for 6:00 p.m. Sunday’s competition will begin at 9:30 a.m. with the championship finals starting at 3:00 p.m.
The Seminoles will face some tough competition against the likes of Georgia, the tournament host, Florida Atlantic University, and ACC foes, NC State and Clemson. The men will also have their hands full with nationally-ranked Minnesota and Georgia Tech.
The Bulldogs come into this meet with both their men’s and women’s team nationally ranked in the top 10. Last year, Georgia swept through the Invitational winning both the men’s and women’s meet.
The Seminoles are riding the waves of Greg Main-Baillie and Christy Cech, who have led the team to some big victories this year. The FSU men are 3-4 on the season while the FSU women’s record stands at 4-2 overall.
The Seminoles will conclude the year 2000 with an away meet at the Indian River Community College Relays in Ft. Pierce, Fla., on December 21.
