Tallahassee Baseball Super Regional Set For Saturday, Sunday And Monday

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –
The Florida State baseball team will play host to Texas in NCAA Super Regional action in a three-game series beginning Saturday at Dick Howser Stadium. Saturday’s game is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. with Sunday’s contest scheduled for 6 p.m. and Monday’s (if-needed game) set for 1 p.m. The Seminoles and Longhorns will compete in a best of three series with the winner advancing to the NCAA College Baseball World Series in Omaha, Neb., June 13-22.


Florida State advanced to the Super Regional as the champions of the Tallahassee regional. The Seminoles defeated South Alabama twice Sunday to advance to the round of 16. Texas defeated Lamar, 6-3, Sunday after losing to the Cardinals earlier in the day to claim the championship of the Austin regional. Both Florida State and Texas had one loss in the double-elimination format.


Florida State, which has played in 18 College World Series, is playing in its fifth consecutive Super Regional. Texas, the defending national champion, advanced to its third Super Regional in the last five years.

Tournament ticket books are $30 for a limited number of reserved seats and $20 for general admission. At this time only all-tournament books are available.


Florida State and Texas most recently met in the 2000 College World Series with the Seminoles taking a 6-2 victory in a second round game. Overall, Florida State has a 3-2 series lead over the Longhorns. This weekend’s Super Regional marks the first time the two teams have met in Tallahassee.
