TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – A pair of Seminole student-athletes received postseason recognition from TopDrawerSoccer.com in 2008. Sophomore Sanna Talonen was named to the Team of the Season as a second team honoree, while freshman Tiffany McCarty earned first team All-Rookie accolades.
Talonen and McCarty currently rank one, two on the team in scoring with 36 and 28 points, respectively. Talonen is the team leader with six game-winning goals, while McCarty leads all Seminoles with 66 shots including 37 shots on goal.
Earlier this year, Talonen was named to the All-ACC first team as she leads the league in game-winning goals while ranking in the top 10 in points per game and goals per game. The Finnish native became the Florida State career leader in game-winning goals (12) and multi-point performances (14) this year, while setting the single-season school record for points (19) and goals (9) in ACC play.
McCarty became the first Seminole to be named ACC Freshman of the Year. The Laurel, Md., native leads all freshmen in the league in goals, goals per game, shots, shots per game, points and points per game. McCarty put together four multi-point performances and three multi-goal games in 2008. She currently sits in the top three all-time among Seminole freshmen in shots (2nd), points (3rd) and goals (3rd).
Talonen, McCarty and the Seminoles are back in action on Saturday, November 22 at 2:00 p.m. as they host the Boston College Eagles in third round action of the NCAA Tournament.
