Tamulis Leads Florida State Women’s Golf Team At Tar Heel Invitational

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. –
Junior Kristin Tamulis shot a five-over par 77 and improved her individual standing by 10 positions in Sunday’s third and final round of the Franklin Street Trust/Tar Heel Invitational women’s golf tournament at Finley Golf Course. Tamulis finished in a tie for 37th-place in the individual standings to lead the Seminoles. Florida State finished in a tie for 13th-place in the team standings.


Tamulis improved her single-round score during the final two rounds of the tournament and to earn her best finish in two appearances in the Tar Heel Invitational. After carding an 83 in round one, Tamulis totaled a 78 in the second round and a 77 in the third round. She averaged 79.33 strokes per round for the tournament. Tamulis’ individual finish is 18 spots better than her finish of 55th in last years Tar Heel Invitational.


For the fifth consecutive year, Duke won the team title. The Blue Devils fired a final round 296 and won the event by 17 strokes over host North Carolina. Duke, ranked No. 1in the GolfWorld rankings, finished the 54-hole invitational with a score of 894. Blue Devil junior Kristina Engstrom, who shot a two-under par 70 in the final round, won the individual title with a three-round score of 219.


Florida State closes its fall season at the Mission Inn Invitational in Howey-In-The Hills, Fla., Oct. 19-21.
