Tamulis Leads Seminole Women’s Golf Team To Eighth Place Finish At Lady Paladin Invitational

Florida State senior All-America candidate Kristin Tamulis finished in a tie for 11th-place to lead the Seminole women’s golf team to an eighth place finish at the Lady Paladin Invitational at the Furman University Golf Course. Tamulis fired her best round of the three-hole tournament as she carded a one-over par 73 in Sunday’s final round and missed gaining her ninth career top-10 finish by one stroke.


Furman, the tournament’s host team, fired a final-round 292 to claim its first Lady Paladin Invitational title since 1997. Furman posted a three-day score of 880 to finish four strokes ahead of second place South Carolina and seven strokes better than third place TCU. Brooke Tull (74-69-69=212) of Texas Christian overcame a one stroke deficit on the final day to claim individual medalist honors with a three-day score of four under-par. Furman senior Leigh Turner (74-68-73=215), the leader heading into the final round, finished second at one under-par.


Florida State played its best team round of the tournament as it carded a 297. The Seminoles’ 297 score was 10 strokes better than its first round outing and 12 strokes better than its round two score. The score is tied for Florida State’s second-best tournament score of the fall season.


Tamulis (Naples, Fla.) grew comfortable with the course with each of the three passing rounds as he bettered her score and position with her play each day. She climbed from a tie for 21st-place after day one to 16th-place after the second round and finally into a final standing of 11th-place. She improved her score from 75 in her first 18 holes to 74 in her second 18 holes and final a 73 during the final round.


Junior Alison Curdt (St. Louis, Mo.) shot her best round of the tournament, a three-over par 75, in Sunday’s final round. She finished in a tie for 40th-place in the individual standings. Freshman Caroline Larsson (Danderyd, Sweden) earned the second best finish of her three-event collegiate career as she finished in a tied for 42nd-place. She tied her career-low single round score with a two-over par 74 during the first round. Junior Katie Quinney (Atlantic Beach, Fla.) played her best round of the tournament as she carded a 77 in the third round.


Junior Carrie Sordel (Windermere, Fla.) carded a near career-low 72 in the final round. She missed tying her career-best score by one stroke. Sordel’s career-low score of 71 came at the Lady Gator and the Lady Gamecock Invitational’s during the spring 2002 season.


Florida State closes out its fall season as it travels to the Landfall Invitational in Wilmington, N.C. Nov. 1-3.
