Tamulis Paces Seminole Women’s Golf Team With Sixth Place Finish

All-America candidate Kristin Tamulis finished in a tie for sixth place in the individual standings and the Florida State women’s golf team finished in 10th place at the Mason Rudolph Collegiate Championship as competition in the 54-hole event concluded Tuesday.


Tamulis blistered the Ironhorse Course at the Legends Club as she established a personal career-best three-round score of two-over par 218. She shot an even-par 72 in the final round and averaged 72.7 strokes per round for the three round event. Her individual finish of tied for sixth is the second best of her career, her best career finish of tied for third came at the 2001 ACC Championships. She finished only eight strokes behind the individual medallist, Jennifer Perri, of Furman University. Tamulis is from Naples, Fla.


Senior Kelly Henderson (Marietta, Ga.) enjoyed the best tournament of her collegiate career as she finished in 34th-place with a score of 230. She established personal career-bests for three-round score (230) and tournament score vs. par (+14). In addition, she tied her career-low in the first round as she carded a one-over par 73.


Ohio State recovered from four strokes down after the second round to win the team title going away. The Buckeyes defeated Vanderbilt, the host school, by 16 strokes after shooting a tournament best team-score of 278 in the third round.


Florida State plays host to its showcase event – the ACC/SEC Challenge — at the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort in Destin, Fla., Sept. 28-30. The 54-hole event features five teams from both conferences fighting for conference supremacy.
