Tania Fernandez is in her first year as a graduate assistant in the Florida State sports information office and serves as the media contact for the women’s tennis program while assisting with cross country and track and field.
No stranger to the FSU athletics department, Fernandez first came into the Seminole family in 2004 as a manager for the women’s basketball team. While with the Seminoles, she was promoted to head manager and traveled with the team to three NCAA Tournaments, including one appearance in which the Seminoles advanced to the Sweet 16 for the first time in program history.
In January 2008, Fernandez began an internship with sports information working with the women’s basketball and track and field SID while gaining experience in writing, research and interviewing.
Born in Altus, Okla., but raised in Miami, Fla., Fernandez graduated from Florida State in April 2008 with a bachelor of arts degree in Sport Management and a minor in Communication. She will begin the master’s program in Integrated Marketing at FSU in the fall.
Fernandez is a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
