The following is the final diary entry of junior left field and All-ACC first team member Natasha Jacob who was the top player for the Seminole softball team this season. Jacob, Florida State’s 2005 MVP, will take a 24-game hit streak into her 2006 senior campaign.
Hi ‘Nole Fans!
Well, the 2005 season has come to a close. With a bid into the regional tournament, it looked as though we had a chance to redeem ourselves and end our season on a more positive note. We showed up to Auburn in full force and ready to play. Immediately, we end up taking the first game away from Auburn, the hosts of the tournament, with a stellar performance. There was an obvious spark of intensity and a new life in our team.
After two more games on Saturday, we found ourselves in the championship game on Sunday against the number one seed of the tournament, Baylor. We had played a great game against Baylor the day before, which ended in a heart-breaking loss, so we were ready to take revenge! Unfortunately, the Baylor Bears took the win from us once again, naming them regional champs.
I just wanted to say “good-bye” to our seniors and wish them good luck in all their future endeavors. They have played a crucial role on this team and have been an integral part of the Florida State softball program for the past four years. We are really going to miss them!
