Tennis Opens Fall Season

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –
The Florida State men’s tennis team will start the 2010 fall season at the Thomasville Collegiate Invitational. Four Seminoles will be competing against players from South Alabama, West Florida, Valdosta State and FAMU. The competition begins today at the Glen Arvin Country Club in Thomasville, Ga., and will be running through the weekend.

The Seminoles will be represented by junior Owen Long (Tallahassee, Fla.), sophomores Andres Bucaro (Guatemala City, Guatemala) and Jordan Kelly-Houston (Christchurch, New Zealand) and freshman Blake Davis (Austin, Texas). This will be the first collegiate tournament for Davis who comes to Florida State as a blue-chip recruit.

“For me, this is really a time to show what I can do and prove my spot on the team,” said Davis. “I am really excited about playing as a Seminole for the first time.”

Today’s matches will be at 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., Saturday at 10:30 a.m. and then Sunday at 8:30 a.m. and noon. Check back this weekend for results of the tournament.
