INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Florida State junior diver Terry Horner has been selected to represent the United States at the World Championships this summer in Rome, Italy from July 18-25.

Horner will compete on the one-meter board along with Olympian Chris Colwill. The Orlando, Fla., native is one of five men chosen to compete for the U.S. this summer. The team members were chosen following a four-day selection camp in Columbus, Ohio, where USA Diving selectors chose individual competitors for the World Championships.

Horner was the 2007 NCAA Champion on the one-meter and currently holds the school record in the event with a six dive total of 423.75. The two-time ACC Champion is set to defend his titles on the one and three-meter boards at the 2009 ACC Swimming and Diving Championships in College Park, Md., from February 18-21.

Six Olympians were among the divers chosen to compete at the World Championships, set for July 18-25 in Italy. Troy Dumais and Colwill will dive on men’s 3-meter, and Christina Loukas and Ariel Rittenhouse were chosen for the women’s 3-meter. Loukas also were selected for the 1-meter event. Haley Ishimatsu and David Boudia were chosen for the 10-meter.

Joining Boudia on the 10-meter is up-and-comer Nick McCrory, a 17-year-old who won his first senior national title in 2008. Brittany Viola was selected for the other women’s 10-meter spot, and she will also compete on 1-meter.

The World Championships squad will be required to demonstrate competitive readiness at the 2009 AT&T USA Diving Grand Prix in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., May 7-9.
