Florida State’s Kristina Pellitteri is a senior on the Seminole beach volleyball team. Throughout the spring semester, Nina will provide fans with an in depth look into the Florida State beach volleyball program as the Seminoles vie for their first national championship in program history. We hope you enjoy the ‘Beach Bulletin’ with Nina during the spring semester.

Now that the Garnet and Gold competition is over with, the beach volleyball team is headed to Arizona and California for a nine-day trip. Not a bad place to be spending our spring break! Traveling to California is always a great time for our team, because not only do we get to play on beautiful beaches, but we also get to compete against some of the best teams in college beach volleyball. The west coast has dominated at the National Championships the past few years, so this trip really allows us to face some of the best competition.
This trip finally gives us a chance to show off all of our hard work that we put in during the fall and in the preseason. We have been training since August, so it is crazy to think the season is finally here. We are more than ready to start competing against other schools, and we feel more prepared than ever. You can feel the excitement flowing throughout the team as everyone has been talking about this trip out to the west coast for weeks. Although everyone on our team has been to California at least once, some even call California home, we still get excited to travel to the west coast and play schools that we usually don’t see again until the National Championships.
Senior Jace Pardon especially loves traveling to California, because this is where she calls home, “I love going to California because I get to play on my home turf and against some of the best teams in the nation! I get to compete in front of my family and old friends. Nothing compares to representing Florida State University in front of the people that I am closest too!”
As we progress through the season, our main goal will remain the same – to win a National Championship. But we have to continue to take it one match, and one weekend at a time. Coach Brooke, Hector and Traci have done a great job in preparing us for the start of the season.
Last weekend, we had out Garnet and Gold event followed by a banquet at Madison Social. The banquet featured Coach Brooke getting everyone excited for the start of season as we all got the chance to invite our family and friends to the event. Banquets are always exciting for us because it gives us a change to take off the athletic gear and put on a nice dress and makeup.
Now that we’re off to Arizona and California for the next nine days, make sure to keep up with the beach team through Instagram, as I will be taking over and posting pictures throughout the trip! Go Noles!
