We hope you enjoy the ‘Beach Bulletin’ with Nina during the spring semester.

The Beach Bulletin, Vol. 8: The Final Countdown

By Kristina Pellitteri

Wow, where do I start? I can never begin to thank Florida State enough for all that this university has done for me. Thank you for the life lessons, for all the amazing opportunities and for the memories I have created here. One thing is for sure, Florida State has prepared me for the future in more ways than I could ever imagine.

I have traveled to new places for competition, I have learned a lot, but most importantly I have made friends that will last a lifetime. From the first time I stepped foot on campus to my senior season in 2016, each and every team was nothing more than a giant group of sisters. You spend every day with your teammates. They are there to witness your good days. You see each other’s success, but you’re also there to witness their worst days and we chose never to give up on each other. My freshman year six seniors came in as complete strangers and now, with one more added to the mix, we leave as best friends. We have accomplished goals together, we have conquered training together, and we have learned the most influential life lessons together. These are the friends I will hold on to for the rest of my life. But most importantly, we all shared a common love, the love for Florida State University.

There’s so many people to thank I could write a novel, but to save you a long read I will only mention a few…

The Beach Bulletin, Vol. 8: The Final Countdown

Coach Brooke, Hector and Traci – thank you for showing me how to love the sport of beach volleyball. Your one year of coaching me has taught me how to be a more confident and aggressive player. Such influential advice and coaching throughout this year has been so beneficial to the entire team, especially the upperclassmen. We cannot thank you enough. And I cannot wait to come back and visit to see how much this program will continue to grow under your reign.

Vanessa Fuchs – I don’t even know where to begin. You are such an inspiration to every female athlete out there, but I cannot express to you how much you meant to our team and especially me. I will forever look up to you and your guidance. Thank you for caring so much about our program and constantly reminding us how much support we have here. You never once made us feel like a new sport at FSU.

Jason Leturmy – I am so grateful for the opportunity you provided me to intern with you this semester. I have gained so many new skills that have already proved to benefit my future career path. I absolutely loved interning with Seminole Sports Info; thank you again for all that you have done, not just for me, but for the whole beach volleyball team.

Well, now that I have officially graduated, it’s time for the real world to start. I will be moving to Oregon this summer where I will be interning for Nike! Not only will I be reunited with my sister Stephanie, who graduated just last year, and who now works for Nike as a full-time employee, but I will be interning for the leading sportswear brand. Without the help and support of Florida State, this internship would not have been possible – just another reason to thank this great university.

But before the real world sets in for our entire senior class, we have one more weekend of competition in our collegiate careers. Going into Nationals as the number one seed was obviously a huge goal of ours and now that we have accomplished that we have one more goal left to execute – to bring home the title. This weekend we are in beautiful Gulf Shores, Alabama! No game will be easy from this point on, and we feel as though we are as prepared as we ever could be. Make sure to keep up with us as we compete for the inaugural NCAA national championship this weekend!

It has been such an honor to write these blogs for you all. I really hope you all enjoyed following along with me and my teammates during my senior year at Florida State. Time flies, but these memories will last a lifetime. I will forever bleed Garnet & Gold. Go Noles!
