Happy February everyone!
It is crazy to think that we are already done with four weeks of training this spring. That means we only have two more weeks of the two-hour per week training sessions with our coaches. But to honest, all of us are waiting for the day when we can practice on a regular basis.
The soccer team began the month of February with the yearly soccer banquet. The banquet gets better and better every year. The day started off by riding in style! Brian (our amazing bus driver throughout the fall) picked the players up from the Soccer Complex at noon in a party bus, which was super cool! It was a little different day for the Florida State soccer players because we finally had a reason to take off those sweats and put on a nice dress and some make-up. We all looked super cute as you can see from the pictures below.
All in all, the banquet was amazing. It was held at the Golden Eagle Golf & Country Club, which is a very nice place. When we arrived our coaches, staff, administration and boosters were already there. There was an amazing buffet waiting for us including chicken, salad, fish, soup, bread and of course delicious deserts as we could pick from a few different types of cakes. The food was delicious. I know some of us made a couple trips through the buffet line. We ate until we were completely full!
When people were done with their food we listened to a few speeches and we thanked our staff that did an excellent job last season as always. Coach Krikorian got a little surprise gift too when he received a framed jersey for coaching in his 500th career game as a head coach across all levels. His 500th game came against Boston College on October 3 and it was an exciting game as we came back from two goals down to win 4-3! In the end we wrapped up our 2013 season with a fantastic video.
The weather is getting better here in Tallahassee so when the banquet was over we went outside to take few cute pictures and then Brian drove us back to the soccer complex.
It was great to look back at last season, but it also reminded us that we did not finish our team goal. Seeing all those memories from last year made me think how much harder I am going to work this year to improve my game. I also know that my teammates will do the same so all of us can improve our game, finish our team goal next season and make some history here at Florida State by winning that first soccer national title.
Thanks for reading, until next time…
