The Noles split last week's defeating Georgia Tech on another Michael Snaer buzzer beater, then fell at Wake Forest. The Noles are home for two large home games this week when arch rival and #3 Miami comes to the Tuck on Wednesday night at 7pm. On Saturday the BC Eagles take on the Noles at 12 noon. The No. 19 ranked Florida State women's basketball team cruised past Miami on Sunday, coming away with a 93-78 road victory at the BankUnited Center. The Garnet and Gold will now turn their attention to two huge home ACC matchups this week. First on Thursday evening at 7pm the Seminoles will host the NC State Wolf Pack for Paint it Pink. Come out and support the team as they wear pink jerseys to raise awareness for the Sharon Ewing Walker Breast Health Center and Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare. The 9th ranked Florida State Baseball team opens their 2013 campaign against the Rhode Island Rams this Friday at Dick Howser Stadium. First pitch is set for 4 p.m. The Noles will also hit the field on Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 12 p.m. to finish out their weekend series. Pick up the 2013 poster and schedule card this weekend.
The No. 28 Florida State men's tennis team (9-2) lost its first match at home this season against No. 11 Florida (6-0) on Saturday. The Seminoles pulled out two singles win at the packed Scott Speicher Tennis Center including an upset and come-from-behind win but lost the tight match 5-2. The team has next week off and will take on Pepperdine at Bradenton, Fla. at the IMG Academy on February 24
Sophomore Daneika Borthwick was named ACC Player of the Week on February 5th by the league office after picking up her sixth win over a ranked opponent this year. Borthwick and The No. 29 ranked Florida State Women's tennis team will open home play this weekend as they take on UCF Friday at 3 p.m. and Georgia State Sunday at 1 p.m. Come out to Scott Speicher Tennis Center and cheer on your Noles!
The 24th ranked softball team opened up the season in convincing fashion this past week dominating the panhandle invitational. The Noles are back home again this weekend hosting another tournament- the Unconquered Invitational. Arkansas, Tulsa and Hofstra come to Tallahassee. Games begin Friday at 12:15pm when the Noles take on Tulsa, followed by Arkansas at 2:30pm. On Saturday the Noles take on Hofstra (12:15pm) and the tournament will continue on that night and into Sunday. Come out to the Seminole Softball complex- Admission is FREE!
Will host the Florida State Match Up this weekend at Southwood Golf Club. Twelve teams will tee off in twosomes for the first two rounds and then in a final round shotgun in threesomes. The twosomes will consist of the partner teams playing together and for this year the partners are as follows: Florida State/Texas A&M, Oklahoma/Georgia, Notre Dame/Michigan, Tennessee/Texas San Antonio, Furman/Kansas, and UNC Greensboro/UNC Wilmington. Tee time is set for 8:30am on Friday and Saturday and a 8:00am shotgun on Sunday.
The No. 23 Florida State men's golf team won the SunTrust Gator Invitational Sunday for the first time since 1981 with a team score of 8-under 832. The team won by 15 strokes at the Mark Bostick Golf Course on the University of Florida. Sophomore Daniel Berger won the individual title for the first time in his career.
