Three Lady Seminoles Post NCAA Provisional Marks

GAINESVILLE, FL. — The Florida State track and field team traveled
to Gainesville, Fla. this weekend to compete in the Florida
Intercollegiates hosted by the University of Florida. Three Lady Seminoles
earned NCAA Provisional scores in their respective events and Joseph Allen
walked away with two first-place finishes for the men.

Tonya Carter won the 55m dash with a NCAA Provisional time of 6.83.
Carter also racked up a 5th place finish in the 400m run with a time of
56.61. Carter was joined in the top 10 of the 400m run by teammates
Tangela Wobbleton (3rd – 56.46) and Shanna Quinn (9th – 58.64). In the
800m run, Samantha George posted a NCAA Provisional time of 2:09.95 to
claim second place. Lakeisha Mose, the Lady Seminole Indoor record holder
in the weight throw, earned an NCAA Provisional mark in the shot put with a
toss of 49’07.25. Mose won both the shot put and weight throw to lead the
Lady Seminoles.

In the women’s triple jump the Lady Seminoles had three top 10
finishers. Chinette Johnson placed fourth with a jump of 40’11.75 followed
by Taressa Davis (8th – 38’10.50) and Zuzette Mullings (10th – 38’06.75).
Johnson also placed in the top five in both the long jump and high jump.
Johnson tied with teammate Michaela Steele for second in the high jump
after earning a fourth place finish in the long jump with a mark of
18’10.75. Johnson and Steele each cleared jumps of 5’06.00 in the high
jump to tie for second place. In the pole vault, Lindsay Adkins and Nikki
Allen tied for fourth place, each clearing 11’01.75. Kimberly Jones added
another top five finish on the day for the Lady Seminoles with a time of
8.25 in the 55m hurdles. Jones finished in fifth place.

On the men’s side, Allen won both the triple jump (51’01.00) and
the long jump (24’10.00) for the Seminoles. Chris Bland added a second
place finish in the high jump clearing 6’10.75. Weight thrower Josh
Bowling also had a second place finish with a throw of 49’05.75. Mario
Lowe tallied a third place finish in the triple jump for the Noles. Lowe
had a jump of 49’05.50. Antonio Martin, Darius Jones and Tommy Kunish had
the other top 10 marks for the Seminoles. Martin ran a 49.92 in the 400m
to earn a 10th-place finish. Kunish ran the mile in 4:23.52 to finish in
eighth place and Jones flew 23’01.25 to record a fifth-place finish in the
long jump.

The track and field team will continue its indoor season with a
meet on Saturday, January 22nd at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia.
