Three Men’s Tennis Players Travel To Sherwood Cup This Weekend

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Before beginning its 2006 dual meet schedule Saturday, Jan. 21, against Florida Atlantic, the No. 11 Florida State men’s tennis team will send three Seminoles to compete in the Sherwood Cup in Thousand Oaks, Calif., this weekend. Junior Ytai Abougzir, ranked No. 72 in the country, senior Chris Westerhof and freshman Chris Cloer will compete against some of the nation’s top players.

The 6th Annual Sherwood Cup includes schools from Baylor, Boston College, Florida State, Pepperdine, Stanford, UCLA and USC. Play is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. on Friday morning.

Florida State’s remaining five players: juniors Jason Hood and Jonathas Sucupira, sophomore Sam Chang, and freshmen Maciek Sykut and Andrew Bailey will remain in Tallahassee to prepare for their upcoming season.
