TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State placed three players on the Associated
Press’ first-team All-America squad.
Receiver Peter Warrick, a junior from Bradenton, Fla., who led the Seminoles with 61 receptions for 1,232
yards and 12 touchdowns.
Sophomore placekicker Sebastian Janikowski, the winner of the Lou Groza
Award, also was placed on the first-team. Janikowski led the nation with
2.25 field goals per game and was seventh in the country in scoring with
10.25 points per game.
Defensive tackle Corey Simon also earned first-team recognition. Simon
led the Seminoles with 16 tackles for loss and recorded a total of 65 stops
on the season.
Junior offensive guard Jason Whitaker, a native of Panama City, Fla.,
earned third-team distinction.
