Three Seminoles named to ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District teams

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – In the midst of the ACC Championships, CoSIDA announced the 2008 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District teams on Thursday, May 8, with three Seminoles making the grade. Sophomores Robin Ahrberg and Carly Wynn were named to the District 3 first-team and junior Melissa May took District 3 second-team honors.

Ahrberg is majoring in sport management with a 3.22 GPA and is in the top five on the FSU team with a .299 average following the win over Boston College on day one of the ACC tournament yesterday.

Wynn, a 2008 All-ACC first team member, is majoring in psychology and holds a 3.76 GPA. The starting centerfielder leads her team with a .379 batting average and has notched a team-high 38 runs this season.

Rounding out the winners from Florida State is May who has a near-perfect GPA of 3.90 in her child development program. May currently has a 2-2 record on the mound and scored one of five runs for the Seminoles in yesterday’s 5-1 win.

A total of 10 Atlantic Coast Conference softball athletes made the All-District teams with Florida State, Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech all nabbing three recipients apiece.
