Top 20 Moments: #10 – Tiffany McCarty Becomes FSU’s All-Time Leading Scorer

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State Women’s Soccer program turns 20 in 2014! In conjunction with celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, the Seminole soccer team will countdown the top 20 moments over the last 19 seasons.

The countdown continues this week at No. 10 when Tiffany McCarty becomes Florida State’s all-time leading scorer. The four-year letterwinner (2008-09, 2011-12) finished her Seminole career as the all-time leader in points (150), goals (63), multi-goal games (13) and shots (283) and the school leader in points (55), goals (22), multi-goal games (4) and shots (108) in ACC play.

What’s impressive is that it took McCarty less than three seasons to etch her name a top the Florida State record books. Over a four-game span during her junior campaign in 2011, McCarty became the Seminoles’ all-time leader in both points and goals.

With a goal in the 88th minute against Miami on Oct. 23, the Laurel, Md., native tallied career goal No. 41 surpassing Cindy Schofield as FSU’s all-time goal scorer.

On Nov. 5, she would move past Schofield once again, this time as the school’s all-time leader in points on a goal against Virginia in the ACC semifinals for her 103rd-career point.

After four years in a Seminole uniform, McCarty went on to average over 15 goals a season in 95 career starts. McCarty was a two-time first team All-American at Florida State and was named the ACC Freshman of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year in 2008 and 2009, respectively.
