TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Eighteenth-ranked Florida State is poised to face its stiffest test of the 2010 season Wednesday when it takes on seventh-ranked Georgia in Athens, Ga.
The Seminoles (27-6) will take on the Bulldogs (22-4) in a single game at 5 p.m.
FSU is coming off a strong showing at the USF The Game Tournament in Clearwater, Fla. last weekend. While in the Tampa area, the `Noles defeated Long Island, Northern Illinois and Syracuse and dropped a game to an impressive Texas Tech team.
The Seminoles were slated to cap off the weekend with a game against host USF but inclement weather forced the in-state showdown to be cancelled.
Florida State will be looking for a signature win on Wednesday against a Georgia program that it is 5-5 all-time against. The Bulldogs won the last meeting, 2-1, in 2007 when the two squads met in Tallahassee.
Wednesday’s game will be followed up by a weekend Atlantic Coast Conference series against Boston College. The `Noles will then play in their first ACC road series against Maryland the folllowing weekend.
