    The Seminoles: Florida State enters the series with No. 7 Florida with an 11-0 record and consensus No. 1 ranking by Baseball America, Collegiate Baseball and Baseball Weekly. * The last time FSU held a consensus #1 ranking was the week of Feb. 24, 1997. The Tribe held it for two weeks (Feb. 17 & Feb. 24). FSU started as the preseason favorite in Collegiate Baseball and Baseball Weekly in 1997 as well. * RF Matt Diaz garnered ACC Player of the Week honors last week after batting .700 with eight RBIs and eight runs against Troy State. Diaz recorded three doubles, a triple and a home run in the series. He is also riding a 10-game hitting streak. * The Seminoles are on a 15-game home winning streak carried over from last season. * FSU is batting .356, has hit 19 home runs while averaging 11.36 runs per game. * The Seminole pitching staff has posted a 2.18 ERA and opponents are batting just .191 against FSU. The staff is averaging 9.9 strikeouts per game. * FSU has allowed double-digit hits by opponents just once this season (10 against Arizona St.), and opponents have not scored more than five runs this year. * FSU fielders are averaging an impressive .974 and have posted eight games with one or no errors. FSU has won nine of its 11 games by a 5+ run margin. * Head coach Mike Martin is in his 20th season as the Seminoles skipper, collecting a 1,033-350-3 record over the past 20 years.

    On the Mound: RHP Jon McDonald takes the mound on Saturday in his second career start against the Gators. McDonald, who leads FSU with 25 strikeouts, lost a 3-1 decision in Gainesville last season. RHP Nick Stocks is slated to make his first career start against Florida. Stocks saw action in a 10-5 extra-inning loss to UF in Tallahassee last year.

    Scouting the Opponent: Florida (2-2) is ranked seventh by Collegiate Baseball, No. 9 by Baseball America and 12th by Baseball Weekly. The Gators split a four-game series with Miami so far this season. RHP Matt McClendon (0-0, 5.11 ERA) will start for the Gators on Saturday, while freshman RHP Jay Belflower (0-0, 6.14 ERA) will pitch on Sunday. Matt Goss leads UF with a .467 average and three RBI, while Matt Siegel is batting .412 with three RBI.

    Series Information: Florida State leads the series 95-79 since 1956. The Seminoles are 3-4 against Gators inthe last two seasons. The two teams split the two-game series in Tallahassee last year.
