SURPRISE, Ariz. – Florida State women’s tennis junior Carla Touly stays alive after a big comeback win over No. 34 Olivia Hauger of California in the first round of the consolation bracket at the Oracle ITA Fall Championship.
In the first set, Hauger took a 2-1 lead before expanding that to 5-1. Touly slimmed the lead to 5-2 before Hauger took the first set 6-2.
Touly fell behind early in the second set down 4-1. She sparked a comeback and tied the second set up at five. Touly won six of the last seven games as she stormed back to take set two 7-5.
After a huge comeback in the second set, Touly fell behind again in the third set. Down 3-1 Touly did what she does best and tied it up at three. Touly then won the next three games to take the third set 6-3 and the match.
Touly will be taking on 24th ranked Emily Arbuthnott of Stanford tomorrow in the consolation round of 16.
