Track And Field Teams Successful At Air Force Invitational

COLORADO SPRINGS, Co. — The Florida State track and field team
traveled to Colorado Springs, Colorado this weekend to participate in the
Air Force Invitational hosted by the US Air Force Academy. The Seminoles
earned 20 top five finishes and six different Seminoles garnered first
place finishes.

Senior Samantha George set a new Lady Seminole indoor record in the
400M Dash with a time of 53.56. The previous mark was 54.21 set by Janet
Davis in 1984. Lindsay Adkins posted a season best 11’08.50 to finish in
first place in the pole vault.

Zuzette Mullings set two personal season best records on Sunday.
Mullings finished first in the triple jump with a mark of 42’00.50 and also
finished third in the long jump with a mark of 19’00.00. The Lady Seminoles
mile relay team also took first place with a time of 3:47.11.

The FSU men’s mile relay team finished in first place with a time
of 3:14.01. Long jumper Joe Allen took home a first place finish with a
mark of 24’07.25. Allen also led the FSU men in the triple jump with a mark
of 49’11.00 which was good enough for a third place finish.

Several other Lady Seminoles posted top five finishes to help boost
the team to a third place finish. Kim Jones set a new season best record
and finished third in the 60M hurdles with a time of 8.57. Tonya Carter had
a strong showing in the 60M dash with a time of 7.31 to finish in second
place.

Sophomore Chinette Johnson had an impressive meet with a second
place finish in the triple jump and a fourth place finish in the long jump.
Sophomore Tangela Wobbleton placed second in the 400M dash with a time of
56.94 and Nikki Allen posted a fifth place finish in the pole vault with a
mark of 10’06.00.

The Florida State men’s team placed fifth overall and were
bolstered by nine top five finishes. Mike Jennings took second place in the
400M dash with a time of 47.55 while Antonio Martin posted a time of 48.67
to finish fourth in the same event. Junior Iain Harnden set a personal
season best and finished third in the 60M hurdles with a time of 8.07.

Darius Jones set a personal best in the long jump and at 23’06.75
and ended up with a fifth place finish. Mario Lowe took home a fourth place
finish in the triple jump and Jason Dean added a fifth place finish in the
pole vault.

The track and field team will head to the University of Florida in
Gainesville next Sunday, February 6th, for the ACC-SEC Challenge.
