ATLANTA, GA — Several Florida State track and field athletes
competed in the USA Indoor Championships this weekend with hopes of
improving NCAA qualifying marks.
Tonya Carter recorded a season-best time of 7.38 in the semi-finals
of the women’s 60m dash. Although it was an NCAA provisional mark, it
wasn’t fast enough for her to advance to the finals.
Jody Lawrence placed 14th in the men’s weight throw with a toss of
58-10.25. He provisionally qualified earlier this season at 63-8.75. The
women’s 4x400m relay team ran 3:40.17 and finished fifth. Their
season-best and NCAA qualifying mark is 3:39.04.
Those athletes who meet qualification standards advance will travel
to the NCAA Indoor Championships in Indianapolis, IN this weekend.
