TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State men’s and women’s track and field team return home for the fourth time this season as they host the 2003 Seminole Track Invitational presented by Envision Credit Union. The two-day meet starts Friday, April 11th at 4:00pm and goes all day Saturday with a full schedule of events. Florida’s premiere high school athletes will travel to Tallahassee this weekend to take part in this prestigious event hosted by Florida State University.
A total of 32 high schools will be competing at Mike Long Track on Friday and Saturday. The Seminoles will also welcome five colleges to this year’s meet including Florida, Tampa, cross-town rival Florida A&M, Weber College and Western Kentucky.
The meet kicks-off Friday afternoon with the university division, women’s javelin throw competition. The first high school event will begin at 6:00 pm with the girl’s pole vault. Saturday the meet starts at 8:45 am with the community open mile run, a race open to all interested in participating. Team competitions will begin at 10:00 am with the girl’s, high school division shot put and the women’s, university division hammer throw. Both the men’s and women’s hammer throw events will take place at the Levy Street Complex. The Invitational will come to a close Saturday evening with the awards presentation scheduled to begin at 9:00 pm.
