TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State University and Seminole Baseball are proud to introduce “Space Night” on Tuesday, April 21st for the game against UNC Asheville. The year 2009 is the International Year of Astronomy and it is only fitting FSU hosts an event that will be both educational and fun for all ages. We have joined forces with the Tallahassee Astronomical Society, the FSU Planetarium and FSU-Teach to bring this event to life for Seminole Baseball fans. Space Night will have something to offer everyone with activities including a movie showing at FSU’s own planetarium, the baseball game and a night sky viewing following the game.

The night will start out with a 5:00 p.m. movie at the FSU Planetarium. The Planetarium will open their doors for all of Tallahassee to enjoy a FREE showing of “Sky Quest”, a movie about the in’s and out’s of being a astronomer, most suitable for children 7-13 years of age. The FSU Planetarium is located in room 108 of the Richards Building (UPL) on the west end of FSU’s campus. Once the movie is complete we encourage everyone to come support Seminole Baseball as they host the UNC Asheville Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. at Dick Howser Stadium. It is $2 Tuesdays at the game as admission is only $2 for fans, while FSU students are admitted FREE.

Immediately following the game Florida State University will host a viewing on Mike Martin Field as fans can watch the night sky through telescopes provided by the Tallahassee Astronomical Society. Fans are also encouraged to bring their own telescopes. The Lynds Meteor Shower is predicted to take place the night of the 21st so we are hoping for a fantastic show. When the lights are turned off we will be able to start the viewing. All are welcome to join us on the field. We look forward to seeing everyone at the ball park for Space Night 2009 at Dick Howser Stadium! For any questions please call (850) 645-4851. For a campus map please visit
