The Florida State track and field team sent 12 athletes to Chapel Hill, N.C. to compete at the UNC-Blue Heaven Track and Field Rumble this weekend held at Taylor Track at Smith Field House on the campus of North Carolina. Freshman Natalie Hughes was the top finisher for the Seminoles with a second-place finish in the mile run at 4:57.72.
Allison Lind turned in the next-best finish at the meet for the Lady Seminoles as she finished eighth in the 5000-meter run with a time of 18:02.28. Jordana Whittington followed Hughes in the mile run with a 17th-place time of 5:16.48. Other top 20 finishes for the women include: Keya Crutchfield and Kimberly Walker tying at 19th in the 200-meter dash (25.49), Stacey Taylor placing 15th in the high jump (5-04.25, 1.63m), Nikki Allen finishing 16th in the pole vault (10-06.00, 3.20m), Nicole Scott placing 18th in the shot put (41.02.50, 12.56m) and 16th in the weight throw (49-08.25, 15.14m) and the 4x400m relay team running in 19th place (4:04.27).
B.J. Linnenbrink turned in the top finish for the men as he placed fourth overall in the weight throw with a toss of 59-02.25 (18.04m).
The Seminoles return to action on February 1, when they travel to Lincoln, Neb. to compete at the Adidas Classic.
