TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Florida State fans on Twitter have spoken. EJ Manuel is the MVP from the Seminoles’ first game of the season.
In the 34-0 win over Louisiana-Monroe, Manuel, who made the first season-opening start of his career on Saturday, finished the contest with a mark of 22-for-34 with 252 yards, two touchdowns and 22 rushing yards.

He only had to play 3 1/2 quarters.
Sunday I polled FSU fans on Twitter, asking them to tweet me back their respective opinions on the ‘Noles’ MVP. Manuel won in a close battle with redshirt senior Bert Reed, who caught four passes for 43 yards and one touchdown, and the defense as a whole, which held the Warhawks to less than 100 yards rushing and less than 100 yards passing.
Others that received several votes included safety Lamarcus Joyner, wide receiver Rodney Smith, and wide receiver Jarred Haggins.
Backup quarterback Clint Trickett received some votes, too, after tossing a touchdown pass to fellow freshman Rashad Greene on what was both players’ first snap as Seminoles.
Each Sunday during the season, I will send out a tweet asking for an MVP vote so stay tuned each week and send in your thoughts.
